Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing after each.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  7. Add dry ingredients and milk alternately to batter.
  8. Mix gently until smooth.
  9. Bake 30–35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Cool completely, then frost or serve plain.

Notes

  • Use whole milk for the best texture.
  • Add sprinkles for funfetti cake.
  • Convert to cupcakes (bake 15–18 minutes).
  • Add almond extract for bakery-style flavor.
